# Products and feed

> How your products get into affiliates' product search – from your shop or from a Google Shopping or CSV feed.

Affiliates can search your products with price, stock and an estimate of what they'll earn – and link straight to the product. It needs no installation: we fetch the products every night. Under **Program → Products** you see the catalog as affiliates see it, and you decide what is shown.

## Where the products come from

We fetch automatically from your shop's public catalog when it's available:

- **Shopify** – the public product catalog.
- **WooCommerce** – the Store API.

If your shop doesn't share a public catalog, or you want to control it yourself, use a **product feed**. A feed always wins over the catalog.

| Source | Products per store |
|---|---|
| Public catalog | Up to 1,000 |
| Product feed | Up to 5,000 |

## Use a product feed

Paste the feed's address under **Source and rules** on **Products**, and press **Fetch and save feed**. We fetch the feed before it's saved – if it can't be read, nothing is saved.

We read:

- **Google Shopping** as XML/RSS or Atom,
- **CSV** with Google's or Meta's column names.

Variants are grouped on `item_group_id`, and a sale price with dates is used during its period. The feed can be up to 20 MB and may be gzip-compressed. Lines without an ID, title or link are skipped.

```text title="Feed URL · example"
https://dinbutik.dk/feed/google.xml
```

Clear the field to go back to the public catalog.

| The error says | Do this |
|---|---|
| The address is an ordinary web page, not a feed | Use the feed's own address – it usually ends in `.xml` or `.csv`. |
| The feed is larger than 20 MB | Split it up, or use a feed without descriptions. |
| The feed is empty | We found no products with an ID, title and link. |
| Your shop doesn't share a public catalog | Paste a feed URL, for example your Google Shopping feed. |

## Fetching

We fetch the products automatically every night. If you've changed prices or stock, press **Sync now** on **Products** to fetch them straight away. The page shows the source, the latest fetch, the latest successful fetch, the number of products and an error in plain language if a fetch fails.

If you change the website under **Settings**, we fetch the catalog again.

## Decide what affiliates see

- **Hide a product** with the **Visible** switch in the catalog.
- **Hide sold-out products from affiliates** all at once under **Source and rules**. A link to a sold-out product costs the affiliate a click and you a visitor. The products come back as soon as they're in stock.

Hidden products disappear from the search, but links that have already been made keep working.

## VAT and "Affiliate earns"

Affiliates earn commission on the price excluding VAT. That's why "Affiliate earns" is an estimate: the program's rate applied to the price minus VAT. The final amount is calculated from the order when the sale comes in.

Under **The prices in your catalog are**, choose **Automatic**, **Incl. VAT** or **Excl. VAT**. Automatic uses the VAT rate of the country the shop states – otherwise the billing country, and finally the domain. If we don't know the country, we play it safe and use 25%. If the program pays a fixed amount per sale, "Affiliate earns" is that amount.

## Figures per product

For each product, the catalog shows clicks, sales and revenue in the selected period:

- **Clicks** are counted when an affiliate links directly to the product's page.
- **Sales** are matched through the line items in the order. The WooCommerce plugin and the Shopify app send them. The sale line on the order confirmation page and the Google Analytics route only send the order number and amount, so sales per product aren't shown for those.

Under **What affiliates search for** you see searches from the last 90 days that hit your products or were filtered on your store – counts only, never who searched.

## When the products are shown

The products appear in affiliates' product search once the program is visible to affiliates: the website is saved, and tracking is running. See [Getting started as a store](https://www.affilyflow.com/en/docs/start/getting-started-store).
