Page tracking
See exactly which page on your site each click came from – automatically with the HTML snippet, with placement.js or through your own redirect.
Affilyflow stores on every click which site and which page the link was on. You do not need to tag your links with a site or a sub-ID to get this – it is measured. The numbers are under Links → Mine sites (My sites), Links → Placeringer (Placements) and Resultater → Klik & salg (Results → Clicks & sales).
The affiliate dashboard is in Danish; labels are given as they appear on screen, with an English translation.
Site and page
The site comes from the domain of the page the click came from. We almost always know it, because browsers send the domain by default. Search engines, social networks, webmail and Affilyflow itself are channels – not sites – and never give a site or a page.
The exact page (e.g. mysite.com/best-sofas) is only sent by the browser if the page asks for it. Without one of the fixes below, you therefore only see the domain.
Fix 1: placement.js (recommended)
Add the script once across the whole site. It covers all your Affilyflow links – including the ones already on the site – and works in Safari and in apps.
<script src="https://app.affilyflow.com/placement.js" defer></script>Where to add it:
- WordPress: WPCode → Add Snippet → HTML → Site Wide Footer.
- Webflow: Site settings → Custom code → Footer code.
- Anything else: just before
</body>in the page template.
How the script works:
- It finds links that point directly to an Affilyflow link (
/go/…) and adds the page's address to them as?placement=– without query string and hash. - It gives the same links
referrerpolicy="no-referrer-when-downgrade"if they do not have one. - Links added later (infinite scroll, pop-ups, pages that change without reloading) are tagged too.
The script sets no cookies, does not track your visitors and does not call home. It only changes the address of your Affilyflow links.
Fix 2: HTML links
Press Kopier HTML (Copy HTML) when you create a link – in the link generator, on a link under Dine links (Your links) or in the product search – and paste the code instead of a plain link.
<a href="https://app.affilyflow.com/go/3f9a1c07be" rel="sponsored noopener" target="_blank" referrerpolicy="no-referrer-when-downgrade">See the offer at Store</a>referrerpolicy asks the browser to send the full address of the page. It works in Chrome, Edge and Firefox without any script. Links you have already added must be replaced for it to work. See Links and sub-IDs.
Fix 3: WordPress without a plugin
If you have many old links in your posts, a small filter can give all of them the right referrer policy without you changing them. Add it to functions.php or as a PHP snippet (e.g. in WPCode).
add_filter('the_content', function ($html) {
return preg_replace(
'#<a\s(?![^>]*referrerpolicy)([^>]*href="https://(?:app|go)\.affilyflow\.com/go/)#i',
'<a referrerpolicy="no-referrer-when-downgrade" $1',
$html
);
});The filter works on the content of your posts and pages (the_content) in Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Links in menus, widgets and sidebars are not part of the content – the script covers those.
Your own redirects and cloaking
If you use a redirect plugin such as Pretty Links or ThirstyAffiliates – or a folder like /go/, /out/, /anbefaler/ or /recommends/ on your own domain – the link on your page does not point directly to Affilyflow. The click goes to your redirect first and from there on to us.
We then get the address of the redirect as the page, e.g. mysite.com/recommends/sofa, and the click is shown as Via din videresendelse (Via your redirect). That is the best page signal we have in that situation.
Page entered on the link
When you create a link, you can enter the page where you will put it (Placering, Placement). It is only used when the browser does not send the page itself, and it is ignored if the browser shows that the click came from another site. It is shown as Angivet på linket (Entered on the link) – not as measured.
How we know the page
Every click shows how the page was determined:
| Label in the dashboard | What it means |
|---|---|
| Præcis side · script (Exact page · script) | placement.js added the page to the link. Also works in Safari and apps. |
| Præcis side · målt (Exact page · measured) | The browser sent the full address – usually because the link was added with our HTML. |
| Via din videresendelse (Via your redirect) | The click went through your own redirect, e.g. /go/ or /recommends/. That is the page we get. |
| Forsiden · målt (Home page · measured) | The browser sent the site's home page, and the same site sends the full address for its other pages – so the click came from the home page. |
| Angivet på linket (Entered on the link) | You entered the page on the link yourself. It is your information, not a measurement. |
| Kun domæne (Domain only) | The browser only sent the domain. It may be the home page or a page where the browser cut the address down. |
| Ingen side (No page) | The click did not come from a site, e.g. from social media, an app, an email or with no referrer. |
Coverage
Under Mine sites (and in the panel on Dine links and Placeringer) you see for each site how large a share of the clicks from the site in the last 30 days has a measured page (script, measured referrer, home page or your redirect). From 80% the coverage shows as green. If it is lower, the panel shows the one fix that suits the site. If coverage is high, you can hide the panel.
Honest about browsers
- Chrome, Edge and Firefox send the full address when the link has
referrerpolicy="no-referrer-when-downgrade". - Safari and some apps still only send the domain – even with the HTML snippet. Only the script gives the exact page there.
- Without the HTML snippet, the script or a redirect, you see the site but not the page.
The page is only the address of your own page. It says nothing about the visitor.
Sub-IDs are still useful
Page tracking tells you which page a click came from. A sub-ID tells apart what the page cannot – for example two links in the same article, a newsletter or a video.
