Program rules

Approval period, channels, paid search, coupon sites, what happens if a rule is broken – and how rule changes are announced.

Programs on Affilyflow are open: you join without an application, and the store does not have to approve you. In return, every program has clear rules, and Affilyflow keeps an eye on whether they are followed. The rules are on the program page under Regler og kanaler (Rules and channels).

The affiliate dashboard is in Danish; labels are given as they appear on screen, with an English translation.

The approval period

A new sale is Afventer (Pending). The store can reject it with a reason within the program's approval period – for example if the goods are returned. If the store does not reject it, the sale is approved automatically once the period has passed.

  • The store chooses 30, 45, 60 or 90 days – usually the same as its return period.
  • The period is locked on the sale when it is recorded. If the store changes the period later, it only applies to new sales.
  • The sale detail shows the date the sale is expected to be approved.

If an order is refunded through the store's WooCommerce plugin or Stripe, the sale is rejected automatically. With a partial refund, a percentage commission is reduced in the same proportion, while a fixed commission per sale does not change.

Channels

The program can limit where you may promote the store: SEO, Blog, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest and E-mail. If it says Alle kanaler er tilladt (All channels are allowed), there is no limit.

The channel is measured on the click from the referrer – for example a click from instagram.com or tiktok.com. A click from a channel the program does not allow is a breach.

RuleWhat it means
Tilladt (Allowed)You may advertise in Google Ads and similar – including on the store's brand name.
Ikke på butikkens brandnavn (Not on the store's brand name)You may advertise in Google Ads and similar, but not bid on the store's name or trademark.
Ikke tilladt (Not allowed)You may not use paid search to send traffic to the store.

The default for a new program is Not on the store's brand name.

Coupon and cashback sites

If the rule is set to Not allowed (the default), you may not list the store on sites that collect discount codes or give money back on purchases. Affilyflow keeps a list of such sites, and clicks from them are a breach.

Discount codes

The store can share two kinds of discount code, and both are shown on the program page:

CodeEarns commission
A code for all affiliatesNo, not on its own. It is the click on your link that credits you. Share the code together with the link.
Din personlige rabatkode (Your personal discount code) – one the store has given you specificallyYes, even without a click – for example when the customer declined cookies or buys on another device.

How a personal code works:

  • A click always wins. If the customer clicked another affiliate's link within the program's cookie period, the sale goes to the click – even if the customer uses your code. The last click wins.
  • The commission on a sale through your code is the program's rate at the time of the sale. There is no click to lock the rate on.
  • The same rules apply. Buying with your own code is self-referral and earns no commission.
  • The sale shows Din personlige rabatkode and the code, so you can see it came through the code and not a click.

The store creates the codes and links them to affiliates. If you would like a personal code, ask the store – for example with Skriv til butikken (Write to the store) on the program page.

The store's guidelines

On top of the fixed rules, the store can write its own guidelines in free text, for example about tone, images or words you must not use. Affilyflow does not assess these automatically – but the store can reject sales that break them within the approval period.

When the rules change

Changes have to be fair to you if you are already promoting the program:

  • A tightening – for example a channel that is removed, or coupon sites that are no longer allowed – only applies 14 days after the store saves it. Until then the previous rules apply, and the program page shows Nye regler fra (New rules from) with the date, so you have time to adjust your placements.
  • A relaxation applies straight away.
  • Every click is judged by the rules that applied when it was made. The verdict is stored on the click, so a later tightening never affects earlier clicks.

If you have joined the program, you are notified when the store changes its rules or terms.

How we monitor

The rule monitor looks at every click as it happens – without extra requests and without storing more than necessary:

  • Ad clicks: click ids from Google Ads and Microsoft Ads (e.g. gclid and msclkid) and utm_medium=cpc, ppc, paid or sem.
  • Coupon and cashback sites: referrals from known sites of that kind.
  • Channel: the channel the referrer points to – Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest or E-mail.

We cannot see the keyword behind an ad. That is why an ad click in a program with the rule Not on the store's brand name cannot be decided automatically.

What happens with a breach

BreachConsequence when the rules are enforced
Click from a coupon or cashback site when that is not allowedThe sale is recorded as rejected: Regelbrud: klik fra rabatkode- eller cashbackside (Rule breach: click from a coupon or cashback site).
Ad click when paid search is not allowedThe sale is recorded as rejected: Regelbrud: betalt søgning er ikke tilladt i programmet (Rule breach: paid search is not allowed in the program).
Click from a channel the program does not allowThe sale is recorded as rejected: Regelbrud: kanalen er ikke tilladt i programmet (Rule breach: the channel is not allowed in the program).
Ad click when paid search is allowed, but not on the brand nameThe sale is pending as normal but is not approved automatically. Affilyflow reviews it.

A rejected sale earns no commission. Repeated clear breaches on the same program can close the program to you automatically.

The rule monitor can run in two modes:

  • Measuring: breaches are recorded, but no sales are rejected and no program is closed.
  • Enforcing: as in the table above. Only clicks from the switch onwards are enforced – a click from the measuring period never costs commission afterwards.

The program page shows which mode applies. If it says Reglerne håndhæves automatisk (The rules are enforced automatically), sales from breaches are rejected. If we have seen breaches on your clicks in the last 30 days, they are listed on the program page under Klik, der ikke giver provision (Clicks that earn no commission).

Self-referral

Purchases through your own link earn no commission. If the store's integration can see that the buyer and you are the same person, the sale is recorded as rejected with the reason Selvhenvisning (Self-referral). That applies to the WooCommerce plugin and Stripe, which send a fingerprint of the buyer's email – never the email itself.

Label advertising

Content with affiliate links is advertising and must be clearly labelled under Danish marketing law – for example with "Reklame" or "Annonce" at the top, or #reklame on social media. If you publish for audiences in other countries, follow the labelling rules that apply there too.

Check before you start

If you use an AI assistant, the check_compliance tool can check a planned promotion against the program's measurable rules and answer ok, warning or not allowed for each rule. See MCP server and REST API.
